Forgive Me Please

Yes.  It has been way too long since my last post.  I beg you to forgive me.  I guess I have been too busy being a puppy or lounging around being the Pirate Princess.

I went back to the vet at the end of October.  They tried again to make me a temporary booty.  This time the boot set-up, but it was too heavy for me.  I took two steps and it fell off.  Oh well.  I am just hopping around now on my three paws until I am old enough to go to the NCSU Veterinary School.  But that gives me time to raise money for my booty fund.  Vet school gave me an estimate of $1500-$2000.  That is a lot of booty.

In the meantime, I have been going to adoption events to show people how great I am doing.  Going to the events gives me a chance to wear some of my pirate clothes.  Sometimes I just wear my jewels instead.

But I have also learned some important things over the last month.  I discovered that in my foster home there is a wolf.  When this wolf howls, I get treats.  I find this amazing.  Now if I could only figure out how to open it myself.

As you can see, I am speedy when someone does open that jar.  http://youtu.be/xIUAaY0MWBI

But at the end of the day, I'm ready to crash.  Until my next post . . . .

Happy Happy Friday My Friends!

I wanted to post an update on my vet visit on Wednesday.  The vet tried to make me a temporary booty but it would not set.  So they have gone back to the drawing board.  They attempted to make me a makeshift covering out of plastic.  I was walking like a "pirate" for a couple of hours.

But of course, I'm creative and it didn't last long.  I thought I had a chew toy stuck on my foot.  Hehehehe.

My foster dad is working on a new design in the interim and my wonderful network of supporters are searching for options also.  So I will just wait patiently for the temporary solution.

I started to search on my own, but got bored.  I realized I have humans who will do that for me.

Come see me this weekend.  I will be out again this weekend at the Apex Petsmart from 11a-2p giving away free puppy kisses for all of my fans.

Life of Leisure

Good Afternoon Friends!  I am making progress.   I went to the vet yesterday and they did not bandage my paw up because they said it is healing nicely.  My foster mom was happy about that because she says I'm quite the contortionist with the e-collar on my head.  I kept removing my bandage (hehehehe). Tomorrow I go back to the vet for my first fitting for a temporary boot.  Yippee!

As you can see, I'm enjoying the life of leisure as I go through this journey.  Life is good!

TGIF!

Hi friends.  I have had a busy week.  I went to the vet on Monday for a check on my foot and again on Thursday.  They took out my stitches yesterday.  I still have to keep it covered, but I go back for another checkup on Monday.  I'm getting closer and closer to getting my temporary boot.  Maybe my foster mom will "bling" it up for me.  I think I need to add some style to my look.

But other than that, I've been enjoying my time being a puppy. I have been playing with my foster friends and getting lots of extra special time with my foster parents.  I think I like being "special" because I seem to always get my way even when I'm bad.

I will be out this weekend at the Knightdale Petsmart from 11a-2p.  Come by and see me.  As always, I promise free puppy kisses!

All my pictures can can be seen on my RUFF profile.

Today is my vet day for my paw.  I will give you the details of how I am doing tomorrow.  Paws crossed that I am making progress.

Happy Friday

Yo ho ho!  Good morning!  Boy, my day was a busy one yesterday.  I had a vet check in the morning.  My foot is still not ready for a boot fitting, so I go back to the vet on Monday for another follow-up.  In the afternoon, my Aunt Kim took me for my photo shoot at http://www.suziewolfphotography.com.  That was so much fun although I did not realize the studio was not a "poop deck" - hehehehe.  I will share my photo album once ready, so keep following me.

Since yesterday was "National Talk Like A Pirate" day, my foster mom took me to Krispy Kreme.  As you can see, I won them over with my Pirate costume and scored a dozen donuts for free!

This weekend I will be at the Apex Petsmart adoption event.  Come see me so I can give you a high paw and thank you for your on-going support.

Ahoy, me Hearties! Welcome to my blog.

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Pirate and I am a lovely lassie.  My story begins on a sad note.  I was found by Orange County Animal Control with my two "siblings" Pierce and Pippa (not sure they are my real siblings, but when you are homeless you always welcome good friends).

We were brought into the shelter on August 20th, 2013.  However, unlike my siblings, I was found with fishing line wrapped around my front right paw.  The fishing line had severed my foot off leaving me with no toes or paw pad.

Because of the extent of my injury, my only hope for life was for the shelter to find a rescue group who would take me so I could receive the medical care I needed.  Luckily, they reached out to a volunteer with Rescue Ur Forever Friend (RUFF) who agreed to take me AND my two siblings.  My journey to find my booty began on August 26th, 2013 and I officially became a RUFF dog!

They immediately took me to Crossroads Veterinary Hospital to have my foot examined.  After x-rays, they decided that they would try to salvage what was left of my paw.  That mean it was time to weigh anchor and hoist the mizzen!

Little did I know that it would require stretching my skin slowly so they could cover my exposed paw.  Where were they going to find this skin on my 4lb body I asked myself?

But after visits every other day to the vet for the past 4 weeks, the have almost done it.  Soon I will be able to try on "shoes".

But over the month, I haven't let anything stop me from enjoying my life.  I am tough buccaneer.

As you can see in this video link, I can hold my own.

Now a month later, I weigh almost 9 lbs.  And as you can see, I live a hard life.  It is exhausting looking this cute all the time.  But I think I do it well.

But I still have a long road ahead of me.  But I will keep my spirits high and continue to share my journey with you.
